Abstract
Depuis une dizaine d’années, les recherches sur la musique en Nouvelle- France ont amené un éclairage nouveau sur divers aspects de cette pratique, qu’elle soit savante, traditionnelle ou amérindienne. Mais il nous a semblé qu’une étude du monde sonore dans lequel vivait les gens des XVII e et XVIII e siècles nous permettrait d’en savoir plus sur les effets des sons, du bruit jusqu’à la musique, sur les comportements des individus. Le concept de paysage sonore de Murray Schafer nous a paru l’outil idéal pour mettre en forme une nouvelle approche qui nous permettra de lire de façon différente les sources de la Nouvelle-France.
