Abstract
Résumé À travers les âges et les cultures, sous des formes variées, la hiérarchie entre les sexes s’est déployée avec constance. La domination masculine s’est imposée avec une telle évidence que les projets scientifiques, idéologiques ou politiques qui ont interrogé sa légitimité se sont partout heurtés à un mur d’incompréhension, de dérision et de refus. La privation de liberté pour les femmes et leur subordination, instituées comme naturelles, persistent ; religions, États, systèmes éducatifs, relations familiales les ont perpétuées. L’irruption du concept de genre appréhende la réalité des inégalités non comme un donné de la nature, mais comme un construit social. Le rapport social entre les sexes est sujet à l’évolution historique, comme tout autre domaine de l’activité humaine. L’intervention féministe en travail social, au Québec et au Brésil, systématise les objectifs et les méthodes d’action sur les rapports sociaux de genre. En France, une prétendue neutralité cache le déni.
