En se fondant sur ses trente années d’expériences en tant qu’intervenant, chercheur et professeur, l’auteur offre ses réflexions sur les diverses façons de concevoir et de pratiquer l’intervention sociale. Grâce à l’inspiration de Jane Addams, seule travailleuse sociale lauréate d’un prix Nobel, l’auteur soulève certaines contraintes et contradictions engendrées par les pratiques dominantes. En somme, il propose de repenser l’intervention sociale à partir des concepts d’oppression, de prise en charge et de renouvellement des pratiques sociales.
