Nous avons caracterise un echantillon de nepheline provenant de Egan Chute, pres de Bancroft, en Ontario, ayant une composition (K 1 . 3 2 □ 0 . 6 8 )(Na 6 . 0 5 Ca 0 . 2 2 )[Al 7 . 7 7 Si 8 . 2 1 O 3 2 ], par diffraction X sur monocristal, microscopie electronique a transmission, analyses thermiques, et diffraction X sur poudre. Nous en avons affine la structure dans le groupe spatial P6 3 jusqu'a un residu R 1 de 0.041 en nous servant de 737 reflexions uniques observees. Les parametres de la sous-maille pseudohexagonale sont a 9.9853(7), c 8.3689(17) A. Les atomes Al et Si sont completement ordonnes. L'atome d'oxygene O1 de la trame est deplace sur trois positions par rapport a la position ideale sur l'axe de symetrie 3, ce qui provoque un desordre de position. Des lacunes sont presentes au site K. Les traces de diffraction electronique sur aire reduite montrent que les reflexions satellites sont de tres faible intensite et floues, et menent a la definition d'une surmaille incommensurable. Les images obtenues en haute resolution par microscopie electronique a transmission indiquent que la nepheline de Egan Chute contient probablement des domaines separes l'un de l'autre par des interfaces antiphasees. Les resultats de l'analyse thermique indiquent la presence d'une transition due a un deplacement d'atomes a 292°C, attribuable a une relation ordre-desordre dans la position de l'atome O1. Une transformation ordre-desordre due a K et □ a lieu a 399°C et serait attribuable au desordre qui intervient parmi les ions de K et les lacunes dans les canaux a axe de symetrie 6 dans la structure. Une transformation ordre-desordre affecte la distribution de Al et Si a 963°C et requiert la plus grande energie de toutes les transitions. La mise en ordre qui cause les reflexions satellites est detruite dans le faisceau d'electrons et mene a la formation de mailles elementaires maclees.
