Uma tradicao secular da traducao, desde a Hermeneutica ate as concepcoes linguisticas da metade do seculo passado, concebe a tarefa do/a tradutor/a como secundaria, transparente a ponto de ser invisivel. Assimila, entao, esse segundo texto ao segundo dele exigindo fidelidade ao primeiro texto dito original do autor omnipotente, damesma maneira que a mulher deve obediencia e fidelidade ao primeiro sexo, que se erige em paradigmo. A violencia social do androcentrismo, corresponde a da lingua falogocentrica. E isso que as subversoes teorico-praticas das tradutoras feministas tem tentado solapar, tornando visivel o feminino na lingua e portanto no mundo. Para Nisia Floresta, no seculo XIX, trata-se de manipular textos panfletarios feministas, assim realizando uma traducao heretica, mas de uma infidelidade criativa, na melhor tradicao classica francesa das Belles infideles. No palco dos anos 1970-90 no Quebec, as tradutoras canadenses, por sua vez, criaram estrategias radicais afim que a escrita feminina possa passar por um interpretacao ginocentrica.
