Dans les écosystèmes agricoles, la présence et la persistance des chrysopes dépendent de la disponibilité des proies mais également de la composition végétale des habitats adjacents des cultures. Comparativement aux syrphes et aux coccinelles, peu d’informations sont disponibles quant à l’impact de l’habitat proche sur les populations de Chrysopidae. En 2000 et 2001, l’influence de l’environnement sur les populations de chrysopes a été étudiée dans deux cultures maraîchères, celles de carottes et de fèves, en utilisant des bacs jaunes. Trois types d’habitats proches ont été investigués : (1) la jachère enherbée composée principalement de Lolium perenne et de Trifolium spp., (2) d’autres cultures (blé, betteraves ou autres productions maraîchères) et (3) des bosquets d’Acer sp., de Populus sp. et de Salix sp. en mélange. Durant les deux saisons culturales, des différences significatives d’abondance de Chrysopidae ont été observées dans les deux cultures considérées en fonction de l’habitat proche, les plus faibles densités ont été observées à proximité des bosquets. Le nombre d’espèces de Chrysopidae et d’Hemerobiidae est cependant toujours réduit. La présence des Neuroptères est discutée en relation avec leur rôle d’agent biologique de contrôle des pucerons, en association avec d’autres prédateurs aphidiphages.
