Abstract
Cet article présente une évaluation générale du rapport du Groupe d’experts sur les travailleurs âgés, publié en juillet 2008. Ce rapport, sensé et bien écrit, met l’accent sur l’importance des choix individuels, sur les modalités de travail flexible, sur l’élimination des obstacles qui s’opposent à la participation des travailleurs âgés au marché du travail, et sur la mobilité régionale. Toutefois, le rapport ne souligne pas l’aspect important que représente la différence de situation entre les hommes et les femmes sur le plan des décisions liées à la retraite et de la suppression d’emplois. Le rapport, conçu sous l’angle de l’économie du travail, aurait gagné à être aussi pensé dans une perspective axée sur l’économie publique, qui aurait permis de mieux orienter ses lignes directrices à propos des suppressions d’emplois.
