Abstract
De plus en plus sollicités pour établir un pont entre le monde institutionnel et les jeunes exclus, les travailleurs de rue ont avec les autres intervenants des relations qui sont souvent tendues. Des entrevues menées auprès de travailleurs de rue et d'intervenants de différents secteurs (policier, scolaire, services sociaux et de santé, hébergement communautaire) révèlent que ces tensions trouvent leur origine dans la méconnaissance du travail de rue ainsi que dans la difficulté à reconnaître la spécificité (formes, finalités, lecture de la réalité des jeunes marginalisés sur laquelle elle s'appuie) et la pertinence de cette pratique d'intervention.
