Sommaire Cet article propose un examen exhaustif des rapports complexes entre la L oi sur les langues officielles et ce qu'il convient de nommer la nouvelle gouvernance des langues officielles au C anada. Il montre que la gouvernance qui s'est développée n'est pas issue de la L oi mais d'un concours de circonstances et de choix politiques. Approfondir cette distinction entre la L oi et la gouvernance linguistique permet de voir qu'il y a place à l'innovation politique et administrative dans le dossier des langues officielles au C anada.
