En utilisant les données de l’Enquête sur l’innovation 1999 de Statistique Canada, nous dressons un portrait de la collaboration université-industrie au Canada. Notre analyse suggère que les entreprises qui collaborent introduisent des innovations originales et de meilleures performances que les autres entreprises, du moins, à court terme. En utilisant un modèle de régression logistique, nous trouvons que la recherche et le développement (R-D), la taille des entreprises, le type de la technologie et les sources d’information utilisés conditionnent ensemble la probabilité qu’une collaboration puisse se réaliser. En particulier, nous concluons que la recherche effectuée lors de la collaboration soit complémentaire aux activités de R-D de l’entreprise.
