Abstract
À l'occasion des nouveaux rebondissements entourant l'avortement au Québec, cet article s'interroge sur les possibilités que du symbolique puisse encore entourer la maternité dans un contexte marqué par l'Etat-providence et par le mouvement féministe. Il retrace un cheminement qui semble aboutir à faire disparaître la mère pour qu'apparaisse la femme. Il suggère un retour sur les implications du slogan « les enfants que nous voulons, quand nous voulons ».
