Résumé L’approche client et la relation client sont bouleversées par les nouvelles technologies de l’information et de la communication. Ainsi, Internet permet aux sociétés de personnaliser davantage leurs produits, leurs services et leur communication. S’appuyant sur des banques de données sophistiquées, Internet permet aussi de créer un lien avec chaque client et de lui offrir des produits et des services personnalisés. De plus, Internet peut faire participer les clients aux transactions de services, leur proposer de rester en contact avec le site de l’entreprise ou négocier en ligne. Par ailleurs, le Web 2.0 amène des sociétés à pratiquer un marketing communautaire en donnant la possibilité aux internautes de clavarder avec d’autres internautes ou de leur transmettre par courriel des composantes du site. Cet article décrit ces récentes tendances électroniques dans l’approche client en comparant les sites Web de sociétés bancaires françaises et américaines. Ensuite, les atouts et les limites de ces innovations dans la relation client sont traités. Finalement, nous offrons des conseils afin d’aider les entreprises à optimiser l’usage et les retombées de ces nouvelles stratégies marketing : continuer à miser sur le marketing individualisé, connaître et respecter les obligations légales, sonder et former les employés au sujet des nouvelles stratégies marketing et de la nouvelle relation client et, enfin, sonder les clients et les internautes pour mieux répondre à leurs attentes.
