Les nouveaux arrivants d’origine marocaine au Québec, pourtant majoritairement diplômés et qualifiés en vertu des politiques québécoises et canadiennes d’immigration sélective, rencontrent des difficultés d’insertion professionnelle. À partir d’une double enquête ethnographique réalisée au Maroc et au Québec, cet article veut dépasser l’apparente homogénéité socioéconomique de cette catégorie nationale de migrants pour mettre au jour sa différenciation interne ainsi que la diversité de ses stratégies et parcours migratoires. Les multiples formes de parcours sont le fruit d’une dynamique entre les origines socioéconomiques des migrants, leur histoire migratoire familiale et collective, les mutations sociétales au Maroc, la fermeture des frontières européennes et les politiques d’immigration canadiennes et québécoises. En outre, la perspective théorique et méthodologique empruntée permet d’éviter les pièges de la « culturalisation » des phénomènes sociaux en nous rappelant que les parcours migratoires et les stratégies des acteurs sociaux s’inscrivent dans des territoires – pluriels – faits de rapports politiques, culturels, sociaux et économiques concrets.
