Abstract
A eugenic sterilization law was passed in Finland in 1935, and it was replaced by a harsher one, postwar, in 1950. Most sterilizations designated as eugenic were carried out after the war, when Finland was no longer allied with Germany. In contrast to most other countries, the events in Nazi Germany did not deter the passage of the 1950 law.
