Dans cette étude, le cadre stratigraphique, défini antérieurement par Gadd, est précisé et de nouvelles interprétations paléogéographiques sont proposées. Le till de Bécancour est présent sur trois coupes. Les dépôts argilo-silteux de Saint-Pierre évoquent un environnement semblable à celui de l’actuel lac Saint-Pierre mais avec un niveau des eaux supérieur. La végétation fossile indique un climat légèrement plus froid qu’aujourd'hui. Son âge, environ 67 000 ans BP, est celui d’un interstade du Wisconsinien. Le stade de Gentilly débute ensuite par le lac glaciaire de Deschaillons, dont le niveau relatif est à 30 m au moins au-dessus du niveau actuel de la mer. On compte seulement 800 varves sur la rive nord du Saint-Laurent, surmontées par les sables lacustres proglaciaires des Vieilles-Forges, qui passent progressivement au till de Gentilly. Ce till, mis en place entre 60 000 et 11 500 BP, présente aux Vieilles-Forges deux niveaux de sédimentation aquatique intercalés, qui indiquent un changement de dynamique glaciaire. A la fin du Wisconsinien supérieur, la déglaciation est marquée par le recul progressif du front de l’inlandsis ancré à son lit. Les dépôts glacio-marins à la base du complexe morainique de Saint-Narcisse semblent correspondre à une halte du front glaciaire entre 11 300 et 11 000 BP. Plus récent que 11 000 BP, le complexe lui-même reflète une réactivation de la glace correspondant au refroidissement mondial du Dryas III. Au nord de ce système, les dépôts glaciaires de Mékinac sont les derniers témoins de l’inlandsis en retrait. La transgression de la mer de Champlain a débuté vers 11 500 BP à l’emplacement actuel de la rive nord du Saint-Laurent mais plus tard au nord du complexe morainique.
