Abstract
We read with interest the article by Fattovich et al. regarding the natural history of chronic hepatitis B (HBV) [1]. In their review discussing the natural history of HBV in children, they report the findings of studies in Asian children, with an overall incidence of less than 10% spontaneous seroconversion by 10–15 years of age [1,2]. However the authors highlight that a higher rate of 75% spontaneous seroconversion was observed after a 13 year follow-up in Asian children living in Canada, possibly attributable to other factors such as their nutritional status [3].
