Abstract
En inscrivant la question de l’altérité comme une prescription sur le présent, la mobilisation altermondialiste des forums sociaux marque une nette différence avec les mouvements sociaux et politiques qui l’ont précédée. C’est son intellectualité pratique et non sa sociologie qui fait sa singularité. Son unité subjective ne s’appuie ni sur une organisation durable ni sur un programme clair mais sur quelques paradigmes en partage. Telle est la matière de l’enquête dont la mobilisation altermondialiste peut être le terrain (et non l’objet). Et telle est sa portée : une ethnologie de la « mondialisation » ou « globalisation » comme remise en jeu des paradigmes et des catégories de la politique comme des sciences sociales. Le régime d’historicité de « cet autre monde possible » et le mode de constitution de l’acteur collectif nous informent de façon originale sur la mondialisation dont il est tant question.
