Depuis les années quatre-vingt, l’accroissement des inégalités salariales a bénéficié à la main-d’oeuvre la plus qualifiée. L’accélération de la diffusion des technologies de l’information constitue une des explications majeures de ce phénomène. Les études empiriques convergent pour établir l’existence d’une prime salariale pour les utilisateurs de nouvelles technologies mais s’opposent quant à son origine. S’agit-il de la rémunération d’un surcroît de productivité lié à l’usage de ces technologies ou bien de la rémunération de compétences supérieures non directement observables? Une réflexion sur les méthodes d’estimation permet de donner des éléments de réponse à cette question.
