Abstract
Depuis une dizaine d’années, la configuration du phénomène de l’itinérance semble marquée par la croissance d’un segment spécifique, souvent désigné par l’expression « jeunes de la rue ». Cet article propose une recension des écrits autour des difficultés et des débats auxquels donne lieu la définition du phénomène de l’itinérance chez les jeunes. Un portrait général des tendances et des enjeux de la recherche est brossé par l’examen des orientations théoriques, des méthodologies de recherche ainsi que des définitions des termes « itinérance » et « jeunes ». C’est à partir de la diversité de ces éléments problématiques que pourra être comprise la multiplication des pistes de réflexion sur la nouveauté du phénomène social ainsi nommé.
