Abstract
La glossolalie est considérée comme le prototype des éléments, aussi mystérieux qu’irrationnels, garantissant la fascination des croyants pour les cultes pentecôtistes-charismatiques. Cependant, nos observations sur le terrain réunionnais nous conduisent à nuancer cette représentation : au-delà du caractère apparemment anarchique de ce phénomène, des normes et des codes lui sont associés. Nous souhaitons donc montrer l’influence jouée par le contexte religieux et organisationnel sur ces expériences extatiques individuelles. Pour ce faire, nous userons de la comparaison entre trois groupes : pentecôtiste, charismatique catholique et évangélique charismatique réunionnais. Dans chacun, nous procédons de manière originale en étudiant la musicalité des glossolalies. En amont, nous prendrons soin de situer ces interventions sonores dans le contexte de leur énonciation. Elles sont mises en lien en aval avec l’approche dogmatique portée par chaque groupe religieux. Les différences relevées entre ces assemblées mettent en évidence une pluralité de « chants célestes », ce qui permet de voir comment, dans l’état désordonné dans lequel le glossolale semble s’oublier, sa tradition culturelle et religieuse influence encore son comportement.
