Abstract
Très active dans le monde des beaux-arts, l’écrivaine québécoise Louise Warren est une figure importante de l’écriture contemporaine sur l’art et des pratiques interartistiques dans le domaine littéraire. Dans Le Livre des branches. Dans l’atelier d’Alexandre Hollan, trente-sept fragments écrits rendent compte du séjour de l’écrivaine dans l’atelier de Hollan, en l’absence de l’artiste. Accompagnés de photographies qui évoquent la présence de l’artiste tout en attestant son absence, les écrits explorent l’affect, l’imaginaire et le mystère qui informent le regard que Warren pose sur l’atelier et les toiles de Hollan. Cette étude du Livre des branches s’intéresse aux recoupements entre divers aspects fondamentaux de l’ouvrage : les fragments, les photographies, les arbres et les renvois au pictural. L’analyse se penche notamment sur les multiples façons dont ces recoupements nourrissent la conception de l’art développée par Warren.
