Abstract
Résumé Cet article s’intéresse à l’engagement social des femmes âgées. Il propose, de façon exploratoire, de poser un regard théorique sur le phénomène et d’examiner les pratiques concrètes et les formes de militance des aînées à partir d’une étude de cas. L’article se divise en deux parties. La première, qui a trait au contexte théorique, analyse l’engagement des aînées sous l’angle des principales approches en gérontologie et des perspectives féministes. La seconde partie vient illustrer le type d’engagement des citoyennes âgéeset le sens qu’il revêt à travers l’expérience d’un groupe particulier, celui des Mémés déchaînées. La perspective privilégiée est celle des principales intéressées, soit les aînées engagées, et met en lumière leurs paroles, leurs causes et leurs réflexions sur la société.
