Abstract
La « re-découverte de l’Amérique » dans le roman de voyage et de traversée des frontières, si elle possède des échos du côté de l’actualité et de l’intégration continentale, rejoint des interrogations à l’égard de l’expérience américaine dans son ensemble, tout autant que des interrogations à l’égard de notre capacité d’en rendre compte sur le plan analytique. La « méthode » mise en oeuvre dans ce contexte est essentiellement un moyen d’explorer les diverses facettes de la signification de l’expérience de la subjectivité, une possibilité d’y trouver un sens lié au dialogue historique quant à l’évolution présente des choses. Aussi cette méthode se doit de franchir certaines frontières disciplinaires pour rendre justice à la signification de son objet. Ce faisant, elle ne « découvre » rien d’autre que les débats constitutifs des disciplines en cause.
