Par une analyse réflexive de sa pratique de « terrain » en Palestine, l’auteure propose une réflexion épistémologique sur la nature des « terrains » anthropologiques, en particulier sur la place du subjectif dans la construction de l’objet et sa restitution. En l’occurrence, cette subjectivité s’est traduite par une implication politique de l’anthropologue, dans la mesure où la condition d’accès à un objet aussi politisé que la mémoire palestinienne impliquait des prises de position claires par rapport au conflit israélo-palestinien. Une telle implication – à la fois exigée par les acteurs palestiniens et induite par les valeurs de l’auteure – a des conséquences importantes sur la production de la connaissance scientifique, d’où la nécessité de la clarifier afin de permettre un dialogue entre des perspectives différentes et ainsi enrichir la compréhension de réalités sociales complexes et mouvantes.
