Abstract

Animée par la volonté de réhabiliter la variable perceptuelle au sein de l’analyse des systèmes internationaux, la présente recherche porte sur les images de l’ennemi irakien formulées par le président Bush et son administration depuis 2002. L’approche retenue aboutit à deux assertions. Le président américain cherche à faire de l’Irak un ennemi égal en capacité alors qu’il présente les caractères d’un État « colonie » ou « marionnette ». Ces images expriment une aspiration américaine à l’unipolarité et à l’homogénéité tout en sécrétant déstabilisation et déséquilibre puisque l’administration Bush impose par la force ses valeurs. Finalement, étudier les images de l’ennemi diffusées par l’acteur hégémonique constitue un outil pour penser les transformations du système international à partir du sens élaboré par les acteurs.
