Abstract
L’engagement associatif a évolué au cours des vingt dernières années, témoignant d’un mode d’être dans la société marqué par un renforcement de l’individualisation. Plus actif mais moins militant, il est centré sur l’épanouissement personnel, valorise la sociabilité amicale et s’inscrit essentiellement dans des associations sportives et de loisirs. Cette évolution ne joue guère en faveur du rôle, traditionnellement attribué aux associations, de responsabilisation et d’ouverture sur la société globale. Désormais, la vie associative s’articule moins à des normes et à des valeurs qu’à la mise en oeuvre d’une sociabilité et à la valorisation d’une subjectivité. Cette évolution de l’engagement associatif entraîne de nouvelles modalités d’inscription des individus dans l’espace public.
