Abstract
La question des politiques sociales constitue un enjeu majeur et une mise à l'épreuve des transformations opérées depuis dix ans dans les pays d'Europe centrale et orientale. Dans une optique de genre, elles apparaissent doublement importantes car elles contribuent à définir les contours de la citoyenneté et pèsent donc sur le statut conféré aux individus dans la société. L'article met en évidence nombre de changements par rapport aux orientations passées et souligne qu'un peu partout à l'Est, les politiques actuelles se traduisent par une dégradation de la vie quotidienne pour une très grande majorité de femmes. À la lumière, plus particulièrement des dynamiques à l'œuvre en Pologne, en Hongrie et en Bulgarie, il tente de saisir l'importance de l'intervention étatique dans tout ce qui touche à la sphère privée et d'apprécier, à ce titre, les effets des politiques publiques en matière de pratiques et de représentations.
