Cette remarque remet en question une hypothèse paramétrique dans la grammaire en particulier celle de Keyser et Roeper (1984) qui ont utilisé les implications d’un nouveau paramètre lié à l’absence ou la présence d’un clitique en surface afin d’expliquer certaines différences entre l’anglais et l’italien relativement à des faits de contrôle avec des constructions moyennes. Il est proposé une analyse complémentaire pour rendre compte de certains contre-exemples en anglais et en français. Cette approche permet une plus grande flexibilité à l’analyse de Keyser et Roeper puisque des phénomènes lexicaux concernant le contrôle avec certains compléments adverbiaux peuvent également intervenir dans ces constructions moyennes.
