La qualité est une dimension centrale des soins et des services à domicile offerts aux personnes âgées dépendantes. Son évaluation, encouragée par les pouvoirs publics, a une importance de premier plan non seulement pour les bénéficiaires des services, mais également pour les professionnels eux-mêmes. Cependant, la question des outils de l’évaluation reste entière dans la mesure où pour le moment l’efficacité de ceux qui sont aujourd’hui utilisés n’a pas été démontrée. Nous proposons une étude comparative de la gestion de la qualité dans deux systèmes de prises en charge aux personnes âgées: celui du Québec et celui de la France. Notre ambition est d’observer deux déclinaisons possibles d’un même objectif de promotion de la qualité, qui nous permettrons d’évoquer un certain nombre d’hypothèses quant aux facteurs favorisant ou au contraire défavorisant la gestion de la qualité par les établissements prestataires de services.
