Dans cet article, l’auteur s’intéresse à l’évolution du mouvement de poésie slam dans la région de Gatineau-Ottawa. Il retrace l’évolution rapide de la performance slam depuis les premiers tournois aux États-Unis en 1975 jusqu’à la formation d’équipes compétitives à Montréal et dans l’ensemble des régions du Québec et de l’Ontario. En dépit des frontières géopolitiques et linguistiques qui délimitent les espaces urbains de Gatineau et d’Ottawa, les slameurs, tant franco-ontariens que québécois, circulent librement entre les différents lieux de diffusion. Il semble alors utile d’examiner le déploiement de la scène slam dans cette région exemplaire, où se produisent des poètes oraux de réputation internationale comme Marjolaine Beauchamp, Lise Careau, Pierre Cadieu et Mehdi Hamdad.
