El artculo analiza el desarrollo de la libertad confesional y del pluralismo religioso dentro la actual sociedad rural boliviana, tomando como caso la colonizacin campesina de Caranavi-Alto Beni. Asimismo, seala las consecuencias que tienen estos fenmenos sobre los cambios en la conducta y los valores de la poblacin y sobre la socializacin y la distribucin del poder gestada a partir de la intervencin de las instituciones protestantes y evanglicas en la vida poltica local.
