Abstract
Dans quelle mesure les difficultés personnelles éprouvées par les individus se traduisent-elles par un appel aux proches ou, au contraire, par un recours au système de services ? Quelles caractéristiques influencent l'orientation vers un type d'aide plutôt que vers un autre ? Ce sont là les questions qui sont traitées dans cet article. Elles le sont à l'aide de données secondaires qui permettent d'analyser le rapport entre certaines dimensions culturelles et les orientations de recherche d'aide, dans la population québécoise. Elles permettent surtout de faire valoir l'importance relative des caractéristiques culturelles pour expliquer les orientations de recherche d'aide, lorsqu'on compare cette variable à d'autres variables, comme la scolarité, le revenu, le milieu d'origine, l'âge et le sexe, qui sont habituellement considérées comme discriminantes dans l'analyse des comportements d'aide.
