L'étude conjointe du pollen, des palynofaciès et du phytoplancton d'une séquence de 44 m de long extraite du lac d'Annecy montre les changements majeurs de végétation et de sédimentation organique dans un grand lac des préalpes du nord fran- çaises depuis la dernière glaciation. La chronologie est établie par comparaison avec les régions voisines et seize dates SMA. La composition des assemblages polliniques reflète des processus sédimentaires particuliers (tri sélectif, remaniements). Ainsi la présence à la base de la séquence d'éléments remaniés plus anciens que Saint-Germain II réduit la possibilité de dater la fin de la glaciation par des macrorestes végétaux dans ce bassin. Les palynofaciès montrent que cinq changements majeurs dans l'apport de matière organique dans le lac correspondent aux grands changements de végétation régionale. L'épisode glaciaire final est caractérisé par une longue séquence faiblement organique. L'expansion des arbustes autour de 13 000 BP est marquée par une augmentation nette de matière organique dans les sédiments. L'établissement de Pinus marque une période de fortes fluctuations des taux de matière organique entre 12 500 et 10 000 BP. La progression des feuillus à l'Holocène concorde avec l'apport de matière plus structurée. Les taux les plus élevés d'éléments ligneux et planctoniques sont atteints pendant l'établissement des forêts de sapins à l'Atlantique. Ces taux se maintiennent pendant les premiers déboisements après 6000 BP. Après 2000 BP le phytoplancton décroît fortement alors que la réduction des éléments ligneux est moins prononcée.
