Abstract
Cet article examine la question classique du rapport entre le roman de Proust et l’architecture médiévale, sous un angle particulier : celui de l’art de la mémoire, système de mémorisation antique et médiéval redécouvert dans la seconde moitié du XX e siècle par Frances Yates. Proust ne connaissait pas ce système en tant que tel mais, en s’inspirant de l’architecture médiévale pour construire son roman comme un bâtiment de mémoire, il s’inscrit dans la longue tradition de cet art polymorphe.
