Abstract
Cet article a mis en lumière les facteurs tant subjectifs qu'objectifs qui interviennent dans l'émergence des aspirations de carrièredes joueurs de hockey junior et, par ricochet, dans la fabrication de joueurs de hockey professionnels. Inspirée de l'interactionnismesymbolique, cette étude se fonde principalement sur des entretiens en profondeur réalisés avec des joueurs et desentraîneurs évoluant dans la Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec au milieu des années soixante-dix. Elle s'attache àmontrer que les aspirations de carrière envisagées sous l'angle d'un processus de conversion et d'engagement, dans le sportprofessionnel dépendent, entre autres, des stratégies de recrutement et d'encadrement des organisations de hockey aussi bienamateur que professionnels, ainsi que du sens que les jeunes donnent à la pratique de ce sport tout au long de leur séjour dansle hockey amateur et de la représentation qu’ils ont du métier et de leurs chances de carrière.
