Este ensaio não busca defender ou consolidar uma noção específica de identidade, não se detém a apresentar uma tradição teorico-epistemológica em particular, mas objetiva explorar várias vias teóricas e epistemológicas, no intuito de sensibilizar os estudiosos sobre a identidade nas organizações à multiplicidade de caminhos possíveis. Busca-se, assim, instigar caminhos para a pesquisa sobre identidade nos estudos organizacionais, sugerindo "novas" possíveis orientações para o avanço do conhecimento na área. Mais precisamente, três idéias, aparentemente incompatíveis entre si, são propostas para estimular pesquisas futuras sobre identidade nas organizações. Tratam-se das idéias de identidade pelo prisma da multiplicidade, da fluidez e da autonomia. Cada prisma pode instigar pesquisas que a avancem em relação aos temas que interceptam as três idéias iniciais. Paralelamente, levantam-se algumas indagações, respondemos algumas questões e partilham-se outras tantas dúvidas com o leitor.
