Abstract
Sur quel genre d’arguments peut-on se baser pour soutenir qu’en changeant certains aspects de l’organisation scolaire il sera possible d’améliorer le rendement scolaire? C’est à cette interrogation générale que cet article veut répondre en centrant l’attention sur l’effet que l’école peut avoir sur la réussite scolaire. Une revue sommaire des écrits des vingt dernières années sur l’effet de l’organisation scolaire sur la réussite scolaire apporte un nouvel éclairage sur l’évolution de la place des facteurs scolaires dans l’explication du rendement scolaire et sur un certain nombre d’implications pratiques concernant l’avenir de la recherche dans ce domaine.
