Abstract
Se efectúa una revisión del proceso de conceptualizaciónde la fisioterapia y de la prevenciónde la enfermedad y afianzamiento dela promoción de la salud, se avanza hacia elestudio de estos conceptos aproximándoseepistemológicamente a sus planteamientos yluego se continúa con las estrategias definidaspara la intervención y se termina con lasdeclaraciones de promoción de la salud desarrolladasdespués de Ottawa. Se tiene porobjetivo describir la evolución que han tenidolos conceptos desde una visión sanitaristaa otra de corte político, y en qué medida estosle conciernen a la fisioterapia.
