À l’appui d’un exemple clinique, l’auteur se propose de mettre en lumière la façon dont l’éthique vient au patient lorsque la morale portée par les forces refoulantes vole en éclats. «Les Invasions Barbares», le film du cinéaste québécois Denys Arcand, donne à voir la dimension constructive d’une transgression de cette nature. L’éthique se trouve au centre de la pratique de l’analyste car l’instauration de la relation transférentielle peut entraîner la pérennisation d’un lien asymétrique dans lequel démagogie, séduction et pouvoir demeurent au premier plan. L’exercice de notre discipline exige le renoncement à être, pour de vrai, le maître que nous incarnons aux yeux de l’analysant ou du disciple.
