Des dépôts de solifluxion, de 1,3 m d'épaisseur, ont été découverts au sommet du mont Saint-Pierre (Gaspésie), vers 380 m d'altitude, juste au sommet de l'escarpement côtier. Les dépôts de solifluxion sont recouverts par des formations arbustives et arborescentes très denses, ce qui élimine toute possibilité de solifluxion actuelle. Une coupe naturelle a permis d'enlever la stratigraphie: on note quatre nappes de solifluxion distinctes séparées par des paléosols. Les dépôts de solifluxion du mont Saint-Pierre sont très récents; ils datent de l'Holocène supérieur, comme le montrent les observations suivantes: 1) le sol actuel est très peu développé, 2) la datation au radiocarbone de la matière organique des sols enfouis a donné des âges très récents (370 ± 50 BP et 280 ± 40 BP); 3) le sol fossile supérieur contient un fort pourcentage de grains de pollen d'érable à sucre. Il est donc contemporain de l'érablière, qui n'est arrivée dans le nord de la Gaspésie qu'après 4700 ans BP environ. Les dépôts de solifluxion reliques du sommet du mont Saint-Pierre témoignent de légères péjorations climatiques post-hypsithermales qui n'auraient été enregistrées que par les sites les plus exposés du rebord du plateau gaspésien.
