Abstract
Depuis le début des années 80, le sujet de l'indépendance judiciaire fait l'objet, à l'échelle internationale, de nombreuses déclarations de principes qui en détaillent les différentes facettes. Des organisations diverses, particulièrement au sein de la magistrature, cherchent à mettre en évidence les composantes de ce concept susceptibles de trouver application dans des systèmes juridiques variés et à définir sa portée universelle. La Cour suprême du Canada a pris appui sur certaines de ces déclarations à quelques occasions, leur accordant ainsi une certaine portée en droit canadien.
