Abstract
En un quart de siècle, l’oeuvre de Michel Foucault ne s’est pas introduite sans difficulté dans les sciences humaines et en sociologie en particulier. Ce qui était auparavant objet d’indifférence ou de mépris pour les sociologues acquiert désormais le statut de l’intéressant. Si Foucault est aujourd’hui utilisé dans les sciences sociales, alors qu’il vient de si loin, si l’on peut dire, c’est qu’il offre certains avantages dans la pratique de la connaissance sociologique et certains de ses concepts — sans échapper aux effets de lecture —, sont littéralement « entrés » dans le quotidien de la discipline pour être utilisés comme de véritables mots d’ordre au point de devenir des lieux communs de la discipline. L’objectif de cet article est d’aborder et d’analyser comment la « philosophie » singulière de Foucault a pu se faire entendre et intégrer finalement la pensée sociologique française, et ce malgré le constat d’une réception limitée et quelquefois hostile de cette discipline — au contraire, par exemple, de l’histoire ou de l’anthropologie.
