Abstract
Durante los últimos años se han introducido nuevas familias de fármacos para el manejo de dolor postoperatorio. Una de estas familias son los Gabapentoides (gabapentina y pregabalina), los cuales han sido empleados por mas de una década en condiciones dolorosas crónicas; pero por su perfil han sido aceptados en el periodo perioperatorio. La presente revisión pretende resumir sus mecanismos de acción y los fundamentos de la misma para su uso en el manejo del dolor agudo posquirúrgico; asi como la experiencia clínica con ellos y las inquietudes presentes para el uso de los mismos.
