Ein spezieller Reaktor erhitzt nur einen kleinen Teil der Oberfläche einer Pd-Folie während einer Suzuki-Miyaura-Reaktion, wie C. M. Crudden et al. in der Zuschrift auf S. 3324 ff. berichten. Die Herauslösung von Pd erfolgt nur in der erhitzten Zone und nur in Gegenwart des Aryliodids. Mithilfe von SEM und XPS wurde die Oberfläche vor und nach der Reaktion untersucht. Die weit von der erhitzten Zone entfernten Bereiche bleiben glatt (linkes SEM-Bild), während sich am Rand dieser Zone wieder Pd abscheidet (rechtes SEM-Bild).
