Abstract
Cet article présente les résultats d’une vaste enquête auprès des membres votants (parents et personnels de l’éducation) des conseils d’établissement des écoles publiques du Québec. Issus de la réforme de l’éducation amorcée en 1997 et portés par une volonté de décentralisation et de démocratisation, les conseils d’établissement opèrent un nouveau partage des pouvoirs et des responsabilités entre les parents, le personnel et la direction des écoles. L’enquête auprès des membres donne à penser que l’expérience est concluante, même si la formule actuelle a des limites. La volonté de décentralisation ne doit pas faire perdre de vue, non plus, la nécessité de maintenir l’équilibre global du système.
