Abstract
Parmi les mal-aimés de l’histoire littéraire, que ce soit au Québec ou en France, la relation de voyage semble occuper une place de choix, si bien que sans le rôle central joué par la « fonction-auteur » (Foucault), le corpus viatique retenu par le canon serait probablement plus restreint encore. Bref, on pourrait se demander ce que serait le Voyage en Amérique sans Chateaubriand… Le présent article examine la réception institutionnelle de trois oeuvres coloniales fort différentes, soit L’Afrique fantôme de Michel Leiris, Histoire d’un voyage fait en la terre du Brésil de Jean de Léry, ainsi que Le grand voyage du pays des Hurons de Gabriel Sagard. Plus particulièrement, j’insisterai sur le cas de Sagard, afin de proposer une relecture du corpus atypique de la Nouvelle-France et de la mémoire coloniale qu’il contient.
