Abstract
Hazel Bell considers how necessary it may be for writers to give the origin of quotations they use, with regard to the likelihood of readers' recognizing them. Apart from the legal and moral rights of authors to acknowledgement, she discusses the pleasure that may be derived from discovering the source for oneself.
