Abstract
Le dialogue entre la construction de soi et l’espace géographique est loin d’être transparent, d’où notre intérêt à questionner comment se dé/construit le soi au croisement de l’Ouest canadien et de Paris. « On ne naît pas (un) soi, on le devient. Le soi est une construction péniblement élaborée », affirme Nancy Huston. Comment l’expression de soi à la rencontre du mot peut-elle acquérir une valeur subversive? Et quel rapport avec l’espace « réel » ou imaginaire? Ou encore, comment être écrivaine et habiter un « entre-deux-langues » (Daniel Sibony)? Par l’analyse de textes essayistiques de Désirs et réalités et Âmes et corps, en passant par Lettres parisiennes, nous proposons de dégager une pensée du « devenir-écrivaine » à la lumière de trois axes : l’avènement du soi multiple, le retour aux sources et la grâce de l’entre-deux. Il s’agira de réfléchir à une poétique de la traversée des frontières en interrogeant la singularité d’une oeuvre-passerelle entre le Canada et la France.
