Abstract
Reprenant les données des enquêtes les plus récentes et les dernières statistiques sur la fréquentation universitaire, cet article fait le point sur l’état de la démocratisation de l’enseignement supérieur au Québec, sur les conditions de vie des étudiants et pose, en conclusion, les enjeux qui sous-tendent les nouvelles politiques concernant les prêts et bourses et les frais de scolarité. On y observe que le processus de démocratisation de l’accès à l’université demeure inachevé, que les conditions de vie des étudiants se sont détériorées au cours des années 80 et, enfin, que les nouvelles politiques d’accessibilité risquent d’avoir des conséquences sur la démocratisation de l’accès à l’université, sur la qualité de la formation et sur le développement des champs disciplinaires.
