Abstract
En suivant les vecteurs de l’émergence d’une identité locale à Kalimantan Est (Indonésie), l’article examine le développement du seul centre touristique de la province, Tanjung Isuy, un village des Benua’ Ohong. Il met d’abord en rapport l’interpénétration des faits culturels et des stratégies touristiques élaborées par l’administration sous l’Ordre Nouveau (1966-1998), notamment la promotion de la culture dayak en tant qu’« objet touristique » ( obyek wisata ) majeur dans la province. Dans cette perspective, la mise en tourisme des Benua’ s’inscrit à la fois dans le processus du développement régional et participe de « l’indonésianisation » d’une culture ethnique considérée comme « primitive ». Paradoxalement, la revitalisation de la culture benua’, est produite en partie par l’image « authentiquement dayak » qu’ils doivent présenter aux visiteurs occidentaux et indonésiens. Ce qui n’est pas sans soulever des ambiguïtés pour les Benua’ eux-mêmes. Si au cours de ce processus ils renforcent leur ethnicité dans le contexte régional, la maîtrise de ses effets, déterminée par l’administration, leur échappe.
